With a vision for being “a different kind of musical instrument store,”  and a commitment to quality instruments, great service and honest dealing, Acoustic Corner has become well-known and respected in the music community at large. In a brief 17 years, it has become a landmark business in Black Mountain.

Our People

One of our shop regulars recently said, “People like Acoustic Corner because you guys know what you’re doing and like what you’re doing.” We appreciate our friend’s compliment and we make it our goal to live up to it every day when we open the doors for business. Each one of us brings to the job our love of music, of well-made musical instruments and our commitment to support the musicians and music communities that feel the same. On any given day, you might encounter one or more of the following folks at Acoustic Corner.

Our Philosophy

It Begins with the Music

Music has great power enrich the human spirit and give expression to what stirs in the human soul. As musicians, every member of the crew at Acoustic Corner “gets it.” We know that every facet of our business – sales, rentals, repairs, support – is about serving those who serve the music.

Neither Box-Store, Nor Boutique

We are not a box-store focused on maximum sales with minimum customer interaction. Neither are we a boutique focused primarily on instruments the vast majority of people can’t afford.

We are an independent acoustic stringed instrument shop with a 16 year history of offering consistently high quality instruments and service to people, many of whom we know on a first-name basis. Establishing and nurturing relationships is as important as anything we do.

Finding the Right One for You

No – not that “right one” – though music can play a big role in that, too. At Acoustic Corner, we focus on helping you find the right instrument for you, whether you are a beginner, novice, hobbyist or gigging musician. We provide the selection and the setting, the information and the environment that can help you make the “right” decision for you.

We believe that you should see, hold and play an instrument before buying it. So we encourage you to spend some time with us and with our instruments. Ask your questions. Pay attention to what you see, hear and feel. You may just find the right one…and the right one may just find you.

Our Brands

We’ve all heard it said, “You get exactly what you pay for!” That is true, but not the whole truth. Most of us know from personal experience that it is possible to get less than what we paid for, too. We purchased the expensive brand with the well-known name promoted in beautiful glossy ads only to find that it didn’t live up to it’s reputation. Fortunately, most of us have probably had the pleasant surprise of purchasing something that performed brilliantly. In that case, we got more than what we paid for.

Over 16 years, we’ve learned a lot about various instrument manufacturers and have chosen to carry brands that have a long track record of high quality, great value and strong commitment to customer satisfaction and support. Though some who are new to the musical instrument world may not be familiar with some of their names, we are convinced these companies produce instruments that in quality of construction and performance match – and even surpass – many of the more costly instruments produced by the “glossy ad” manufacturers whose names are so well known. We are glad to be dealers for the following instruments because we believe that they represent a really good opportunity for you to experience what it’s like to get more than what you paid for.
