Located in the mountains of Western North Carolina in historic Black Mountain,
Acoustic Corner is a different kind of musical instrument shop. In these days
of large corporate chain-stores and impersonal internet sales, Acoustic Corner
offers an array of unique acoustic instruments in a hands-on, relaxed, helpful
atmosphere.
We feature guitars, mandolins, basses, bouzoukis, banjos, violins, lap
dulcimers, and other instruments popular in Celtic, Old-Time, Bluegrass, Jazz, and
other acoustic music styles. Most of our instruments are hand-made or manufactured by
hand in small factories. We also carry a full array of accessories, books, recordings, and
instructional materials.
This website is your opportunity to get to know us and the shop, and learn a bit
about what we do and what we offer. This is not an e-commerce site. We strongly
believe that each instrument is unique, and we encourage our customers to come visit
us and experience the instruments first-hand. A limited amount of mail-order is available,
however, if a trip to the Southern Appalachians just isn't in your plans.
For general information about Acoustic Corner, us or call 828-669-5162.
Our hours are 10 to 7, Monday through Friday, and 10 to 5 on Saturdays. For more specific questions about our inventory, call or our showroom.

RENTALS and BAND SUPPLIES
Just to remind everyone . . . we DO carry some band supplies, including reeds, lyres, flip folders, drumsticks, and such. And our rental fleet is bigger and better than ever, with violins ranging from full size to 1/16, violas, junior violas, and of course guitars, banjos, and mandolins. And we just added a full-sized cello outfit to the fleet. Call or email for more details.
DOLLAR VS EURO
As you know, the dollar continues to fall against the Euro. How does this translate to retail prices at Acoustic Corner? Almost everything has gone up in price, either because it's made overseas or contains materials that come from overseas, or because of rising transportation costs. All Canadian-made instruments have gone up in price, as have a few American-made, or American-based instruments, which are dependent on foreign markets for raw materials. German, Swedish, and other European-made violin strings continue to increase about 5% every time we reorder. Even American-made strings have gone up, probably due to the rising cost of copper and other metals. We regret having to raise our retail prices . . . it's the Dollar and the Euro, not us.
INTERNET PRICE MATCHING
As a rule, we do not attempt to match discounted internet prices. Often, instruments advertised on the internet at discounted prices are not even available; the advertised price is simply a marketing strategy. Please, before you ask us to price match, check with the internet discounter to see if they actually have the instrument in stock (and check out our 'Philosophy' link off our 'Inventory' page if you want to know more about brick-and-mortar music shops vs internet discounters).

Directions to Acoustic Corner
Black Mountain is located 17 miles east of Asheville on I-40. Acoustic Corner is located
in the central business district, but slightly off the beaten path.
From I-40, take Exit 64
and head north, on Hwy 9, into downtown Black Mountain. Cross the railroad tracks, and go
through the next two lights, putting you on Montreat Road, after an odd little jog at that second light.
Turn left almost immediately into a parking lot, just past the Kiwanis Thrift Store; Acoustic Corner
is at the back of this lot, on the left.
